I’ll start with the bad part. I was cheering for Brazil, and after that for Argentina. Luckily, we had a really great place to watch the World Cup bronze medal and gold medal games in Addis – in Myles and Caleb’s living room with a projector set up to show on a huge sheet that took up practically one whole wall. It was awesome. Except the actual playing part which UNLUCKILY did NOT go how I was hoping. Oh well. C'est la vie.
For those of you who may not know, Myles and Caleb are friends of mine from Canada. They moved to Mozambique in 2008, and we visited them there in 2009, and then we moved there in 2011 and got to hang out together again. Then they moved to Addis in 2012. So I was really happy to see them and had been looking forward to Addis for the whole of the big drive. It was totally boss to finally be there.
We had lots of good hangout time playing hockey, building Lego, playing Minecraft, staying up late, sleeping in late, making breakfast together, exchanging information on cool books to read - kid stuff. I even got to stay with them for two days longer. My parents drove north from Addis on their own. Two days later I got to go by plane with Myles and Caleb from Addis to Lalibela where we met up with mum and dad and visited the rock churches (next post).
